Community Work Incentives Coordinators (CWIC)

MCIL's Community Work Incentives Coordinators provide free services consisting of work incentives planning and assistance to people between the ages of 14-64 who receive Social Security benefits and are interested in learning about Social Security work incentives and other options related to joining, or remaining in, the workforce.

We will show you how working may affect your benefits, including SSI, SSDI, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, subsidized housing and other State or Federal programs. We can assist you in making an informed choice about employment. If you have the desire to go back to work, but are afraid to lose benefits, we may be able to help. We serve Baltimore City and Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties.

Contact a Community Work Incentive Coordinator at 410-444-1400 or 1-888-560-2221 if you are outside the Baltimore area to discuss your options.

Did you know...

...special rules make it possible for people with disabilties receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to work and still receive monthly payments and Medicare or Medicaid?

...if you medically recover and no longer meet SSA's definition of disability, your monthly payments can continue if you are actively participating in an approved vocational rehabilitation program that is expected to help you become self-supporting?

...for those who are eligible, a Plan for Achieving Self Support allows people to set aside income and resources to achieve a vocational goal?

...for people on SSDI, a "trial work period" allows you to test your ability to work for at least 9 months in a rolling 60 month period, during which time you will receive your full disability benefit regardless of how much you earn as long as you continue to be disabled?

And there is more... Call us to find out how we can help you.
